It's Friday already?
Yowsers these weeks are flying by!
This Friday we are feeling especially happy as school is out and summer is in!
So this week I am feeling...
Thankful:: as I hang up my P.E.-teaching-running-shoes to mark the end of a school year. I am so very thankful for being able to work part-time at a fantastic school. My classroom is an outdoor field and courtyard. It is warmed by the California sun and cooled by the ocean breeze. I couldn't think of a more ideal place to teach kids!
But, just as the kids skipped out of the school with empty backpacks and smiling faces ready to embrace the joy of summer days, I was happy to join them!
Enjoying:: the simple colors of green and white against the warm, dark dirt of the garden.
Loving:: the abundance of fruit from Mirela's backyard tucked into my (new-to-me yard sale find) basket. There is something wonderfully alluring about fresh figs. Their texture, their color, the unique taste and feel of the sweet, tiny seeds on my tongue makes me want to describe them in a poetic nature (no, i haven't had any wine either).
Working:: on some patriotic projects to sell at Black Ink as the 4th of July approaches.
Overwhelmed:: by the spectacular violet-colored jacaranda trees that are in full abundance right now. The streets are lined with these delicate purple blooms creating a magical-feel when the wind and the violet petals dance around us. They elicit special memories for me as the week they start to flourish every year is mid-May, the week of G's birthday. I clearly remember sitting in the back seat of the car driving home from the hospital feeling overwhelmed with emotions of being a new mom and overwhelmed by the beauty of these trees guiding us home and the wee miracle beside me.
Wearing:: this sweet 'liebe' charm that surprised me in the mail this week from Kristina. Each little charm Kristina has given me has special meaning and I love being reminded of these moments when I wear them around my neck. This company luxe designs based out of Vancouver is really great and the fact that everything can be personalized makes it so...personal!
How sweet is this 'liebe' charm!? So lovely that it is a little envelope! Reminds me that although there is distance between me and my family...every day we think of each other and love is sent across the miles! Thanks sista!
yippeee...school's out!
