thanksgiving.

Last weekend we celebrated our 'belated' Canadian thanksgiving with our fellow Canadian friends who are now living in California. We tried to ignore the heat, and instead relished in the little bits of autumn around us. The pumpkin patch, the making of our turkey dinner together, and a sunset walk along the bluffs that required long sleeves.
Every time I walk along those bluffs I am overcome with thankfulness. Even those times in the past few years where my heart has felt a little heavy, whenever I find myself at the bluffs the beauty surrounding me takes my breath away and I feel overcome. Overcome by the magnitude of the vast ocean. Overcome by the colors of the sunrise or sunset.  Overcome by the presence of God I feel surrounding me.
No matter what my mood, what time of day, if I am alone or with someone at my side, it is one of those places that always makes me pause in my thoughts, reflect and feel thankful.
