lake tahoe.

Last week while many Americans were making the preparations for Turkey and pumpkin pie, we packed our bags and hit the road to drive north towards the mountains of Lake Tahoe.
Oh how I love road trips with this family of mine!
Of course there were many moments of restlessness and each of us taking turns driving each other crazy, but I do enjoy being in the car with all my boys.  Eight hours of driving north and I'm sure seven of those hours were spent discussing motorcycles, dirt bikes, engines, the fastest car on the earth, fuel tanks, four wheelers, and on and on of the same. Needless to say I didn't have the answer to many of the questions George had pertaining to those topics so I was left in peace, dozing off and on, enjoying listening to the dialogue between Travis and George.
Despite an intense bout of the 24 hour flu that hit me upon our arrival and kept me in bed for a day, we had the loveliest of days spent bundled up exploring what Tahoe had to offer. Brisk cold walks into Incline Village for hot chocolate and coffee.  Discovering a dock which led us out to the crystal clear lake.  Spending an afternoon at Squaw Valley and taking the cable car up the magnificent mountain where George ran wild in the snow.  Exploring our hotel and enjoying it's pool, casino, arcade, and cozy fire places.  Driving to tiny ski towns around the lake and taking in the local bakeries and shops.
During the day that I was sick, I had to muster up the energy to take that picture of Vincent sitting on the chair in our hotel room.  There he sat, gazing out at the leaves, content as can be as I lay in bed and Travis and George were out exploring.  Exploring the beautiful woods and lake? No, more like endless hours playing the racing game in the arcade.
Vincent's favorite part of the trip? Sleeping and eating. Oh what an easy-going boy he is turning out to be.
George's favorite part of the trip?  The arcade in our hotel. I'm afraid to ask how many quarters disappeared into those machines.
Travis' favorite part of the trip? The casino in our hotel.  Once the boys and I were settled in for the night, Travis "found" a cigar in his suitcase and without trying to look too eager, took the elevator down to the casino.  I'm afraid to ask how many quarters disappeared in that room each night.
Well Tahoe, you had something for all of us! We will be back.
